In 2017, recreational divers discovered a dugout in an Outaouais’s lake. Thanks to discovery, MHUARI was able to conduct research after getting funding from the MRC Papineau, the MCCQ, the Kenauk Institute and the Productions Richard Lahaie. The project was quite unique. It was the first time we could archeologically document a dugout in its exact deposit location since the other known dugout were all moved before being documented. The project was also a good opportunity to dive into the local history and lacustrine navigation.
